From the snap election to the new coalition government: the evolution of the Spanish form of government. This essay takes its cue from Spanish constitutional chronicle in 2023 for a critical and comparative commentary on the legal aspects that rule the dissolution of parliament, the new government formation, but also on the roles of the President of the Government and the Crown. This focus is useful in order to trace the evolution of the Spanish form of government: on the one hand the confirmation of the coalition governments in the context of a new bipolarism, on the other hand the renewed protagonism of regional parties in the formation of the national government.

Abstract

From the snap election to the new coalition government: the evolution of the Spanish form of government. This essay takes its cue from Spanish constitutional chronicle in 2023 for a critical and comparative commentary on the legal aspects that rule the dissolution of parliament, the new government formation, but also on the roles of the President of the Government and the Crown. This focus is useful in order to trace the evolution of the Spanish form of government: on the one hand the confirmation of the coalition governments in the context of a new bipolarism, on the other hand the renewed protagonism of regional parties in the formation of the national government.
