The discipline of Restoration in the last century has undergone considerable changes due to increasing international cooperation and changes in society. In the decades since the 1964 Charter, a conspicuous number of Declarations, Documents and Charters have borne witness to cultural evolutions. Today, sixty years after the Charter was formulated, scientific-disciplinary and technological advances have extended the scope of possible conservation techniques, but have also had to adapt to the changing needs of society. It is reiterated that Restoration is an operation of cultural and technical significance, and every design choice, whether aimed at seismic improvement or energy efficiency, must necessarily take the form of a critical operation, capable of discerning among the technical solutions, even the most advanced, those that are best suited to compliance with disciplinary principles.

Abstract
The discipline of Restoration in the last century has undergone considerable changes due to increasing international cooperation and changes in society. In the decades since the 1964 Charter, a conspicuous number of Declarations, Documents and Charters have borne witness to cultural evolutions. Today, sixty years after the Charter was formulated, scientific-disciplinary and technological advances have extended the scope of possible conservation techniques, but have also had to adapt to the changing needs of society. It is reiterated that Restoration is an operation of cultural and technical significance, and every design choice, whether aimed at seismic improvement or energy efficiency, must necessarily take the form of a critical operation, capable of discerning among the technical solutions, even the most advanced, those that are best suited to compliance with disciplinary principles.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
