The paper discusses to such an extent the myth of free-market within the debates on the birth of neoliberalism in the first half of the XX century was a significant breakthrough with liberalism. Although a theological interpretation of the market was been refused by the early neoliberal advocators, I would show that this attempt has steered toward the ruinous idea that politics would have been able to correct the "unintended consequences" of the Spontaneous Order à la Hayek. On the other hand, it has been proved the uselessness to think of the free market as a "myth". Instead, I illustrate how the free market can be deprived of its theological component and so described through a purposely human feature, which consists of the attribution of subjective values.
