This paper addresses the topic of assessing noise exposure in environments with particular characteristics, such as hospital sterilization units. The assessing methodology is analyzed, described and tested on a case study. The case study is the sterilization unit of the Pisa University Hospital. The results obtained may be of interest to open a discussion on the adequacy of noise risk assessment methods, designed for more common environments, and applied to this type of special environments.
