This paper discusses the role that linguistic studies should play in understanding and utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), particularly in relation to creativity. Given that AI predominantly relies on linguistic structures through text-to-text and text-to-image interactions, examining AI from a linguistic viewpoint is considered essential. The paper explores the nature of linguistic creativity in AI, highlighting both its capabilities and limitations in generating innovative content. It also critically addresses the concepts of creativity and originality in AI-produced language and the issues related to evaluating the quality of linguistic outputs. Subsequently, the paper identifies areas in which AI excels as well as those in which it struggles. Ultimately, the paper argues for a multidisciplinary approach, emphasizing the need for continued linguistic contributions to the broader AI research discourse.

Abstract
Ultimately, the paper argues for a multidisciplinary approach, emphasizing the need for continued linguistic contributions to the broader AI research discourse.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
