In recent years, the intensification of wine production and the recovery of other local products have become central to revitalization projects in some rural areas and small villages, as well as to the development of models based on the connection between food experiences and tourism attraction. Starting from the scientific and political debate on these topics, this work aims to analyze the case of Suvereto, a municipality of about three thousand inhabitants located between the coast and the inland areas in the southern part of the province of Livorno (Tuscany). The expansion of agri-food production in this area, particularly wine production, is interpreted as the result of dynamics of heritagization as well as of the reinvention of the relationship with the territory, influenced by supra-local trends and imitation effects of villages with similar characteristics.
