Abstract A urodynamic study was conducted in 37 patients with benign prostatic hypertrophy before and five months after transvesical prostatic adenomectomy. Prior to the operation, 17 patients had cystometric signs of unstable bladder which persisted after the operation in only two patients. Normal detrusor function was restored in the other 15 patients. The pathophysiological and clinical aspects of bladder neck obstruction in patients with prostatic hypertrophy are discussed. PMID: 2436567 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]
