Riconoscere la corruzione che cambia pelle

Corruption is a complex social phenomenon and is hard to describe. Dark by nature, as Dante Alighieri already described it, it can also penetrate relevant sectors such as national security and intelligence, and this fact can involve an enormous risk. “State capture” is a radical form of institutionalized corruption, where oligarchic elites can adapt the state apparatus to their own particular interests at the expense of collective interests. For this reason, the anticorruption commitment, however problematic, is symbolically important for democracies, since it preserves their founding values.
