Litterae in pulvere Una nota agostiniana tra aneddoto ed esegesi

For exegetical purposes, Augustine alludes to the majestic height of Mount Olympus and recounts the story of the letters inscribed in the dust at its summit, which remain preserved due to the lack of wind and rain. However, the origins of this anecdote are not easy to reconstruct, and the scant available evidence lacks certain details, referring also to other mountains in Greece. A possible source for this story is a passage from Solinus in the second version of his work, the so-called Polyhistor.
