Augustine as Translator and Grammarian of the Heptateuch · This paper investigates a particular type of linguistic error, i.e. solecism, through the examples in Augustine’s Locutiones in Heptateuchum. After a brief presentation of the linguistic phenomenon, we discuss the definitions given to it by Augustine. This is followed by an overview of the Locutiones and the discussion of the lemmata in which solecisms are explicitly mentioned. Finally, the notion of locutio absoluta is explored in greater depth.File in questo prodotto:
