Abstract
Starting from the formulation quoted in the title, in this work I consider some aspects of the construction of the character of Orestes in relation to the vengeful action he carries out in The Libation Bearers, and more generally in the Oresteia. My aim here is to demonstrate how contact with the judicial dimension, but even more so with the pre-legal dimension, is a useful toolf or understanding how Orestes’ actions are portrayed, both in Electra’s prayer that opens The Libation Bearers and in certain passages at the end of Agamemnon relating to Aegisthus’ vision of dike The theme of Orestes’ responsibility, which has so much inspired debate among interpreters, is not in question in The Libation Bearers, where it is rather blasted forth in allits power, preparing the ground for the start of the last drama of the trilogy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
