Aspectos Lingüísticos de la traducción italiana de la Instrución de Mercaderes de Saravia de la Calle This paper analyses the Italian translation - published in Venice in 1561 by Alfonso de Ulloa - of the Instrución de Mercaderes by Saravia de la Calle, one of the first Spanish economic essays, and sets the Spanish polygraph activity in its socio-cultural field. By the textual and stylistic analysis of the prologues, the paper underlines Alfonso de Ulloa's particular concept of fidelity to the original: he follows the Garcilaso and Boscán translation ideas that allow to the translator to interpret freely the text meaning. The analysis demonstrates that, to convey the author ideas, Ulloa modifies source text which style he considers inadequate.
