Abstract

The Uccellina Mounts (Southern Tuscany), belonging to the Mid-Tuscan Ridge, are made up by the superposition of different tectonic units. Detailed geological mapping, supported both by meso and microstructural analyses and by metamorphic investigations led to recognize a complex polyphase tectonic history with the development of different thrust slices emplaced during two main overthrust events. This work, based on detailed geological mapping at the 1:10.000 scale led to build a new tectonic framework of the whole Uccellina area. This shed new light on palinspastic reconstruction of the original sequence of the tectonic units and contribute to clarify the origin of some debated tectoni
