The paper presents a mechanical model of the single-lap joint (SLJ) test, where the adherends are considered as shear-deformable elastic laminated beams, partly connected by an elastic-brittle interface. The problem is described by a set of six coupled differential equations, which has been analytically solved, thus obtaining explicit expressions for the internal forces, interfacial stresses, energy release rate, and mode mixity angle.

Abstract: | The paper presents a mechanical model of the single-lap joint (SLJ) test, where the adherends are considered as shear-deformable elastic laminated beams, partly connected by an elastic-brittle interface. The problem is described by a set of six coupled differential equations, which has been analytically solved, thus obtaining explicit expressions for the internal forces, interfacial stresses, energy release rate, and mode mixity angle. |
