Apparent molar volumes at various concentrations in water at 25°C of some cyclic bifunctional amines [morpholine, 4-methylmorpholine, piperazine, 1-methylpiperazine, 1,4-dimethylpiperazine, l,4-diazabicyclo- [2.2.2]octane (triethylenediamine)] and their mono- and dihydrochlorides have been determined. The volume changes, involved in the first and second proton ionizations from the protonated amines, have been calculated from the limiting partial molar volumes. Furthermore, the volumes of ionization for the bifunctional cyclic amines have been compared with those for the monofunctional amines and the relationship between entropies and volumes of ionization has been examined.
