We consider the SU(N) Chern-Simons field theory and study the behaviour of the observables, which are defined by the expectation values of Wilson line operators, in the large-N limit. We determine the structure of the knot invariants which are obtained in this limit and some of their properties are derived; it is proved, for example, that for the product of gauge-invariant operators the factorization property is satisfied. A new relation connecting each knot with its double is derived.
