Accurate modelling of electrical drives is needed both for simulation and for performance evaluation and testing. Usually linear models give only approximate solutions and machine/converters interactions are poorly described. In this paper Hammerstein nonlinear models, i.e. a nonlinear element followed by a standard third order plus delay, are investigated as alternatives to standard models. It is shown that Hammerstein models can approximate adequately the models of the electrical drives used in electrical traction allowing performance evaluation and testing on a systematic basis.

Abstract
Accurate modelling of electrical drives is needed both for simulation and for performance evaluation and testing. Usually linear models give only approximate solutions and machine/converters interactions are poorly described. In this paper Hammerstein nonlinear models, i.e. a nonlinear element followed by a standard third order plus delay, are investigated as alternatives to standard models. It is shown that Hammerstein models can approximate adequately the models of the electrical drives used in electrical traction allowing performance evaluation and testing on a systematic basis.File in questo prodotto:
