A variable structure cascade control is presented in order to avoid the increasing loss in the bandwidth of the outer loops, typical drawback of classical cascade control. In the choice of the coefficient of the VS-controller the compatibility of the command signals with the physics of the controlled plants is also guaranteed. As a test case a DCmotor speed and position control is considered.
