The temperature dependence of the nuclear incompressibility is investigated in connection with the problem of supernova explosions. The present calculations have been carried out within an extended Brueckner-Bethe-Goldstone approach and using the Paris nucleon-nucleon interaction. A strong reduction of the nuclear incompressibility with increasing temperature is found, in agreement with previous results obtained with phenomenological nuclear interactions. The temperature and pressure of asymmetric nuclear matter in the collapsing presupernova core are calculated along isentropic collapse paths.
