Cyclic variables are eliminated from the lagrangian of pure QCD by using the classical methods of analytical mechanics. An effective lagrangian is obtained for the variables which describe the gauge-invariant degrees of freedom. This formalism is used to determine the contribution of external coloured charges to the equation of motion which describes the dynamics of the physical degrees of freedom. The method of pseudovelocities is proposed to compute the physical part of the propagator in a background field.

Abstract
Cyclic variables are eliminated from the lagrangian of pure QCD by using the classical methods of analytical mechanics. An effective lagrangian is obtained for the variables which describe the gauge-invariant degrees of freedom. This formalism is used to determine the contribution of external coloured charges to the equation of motion which describes the dynamics of the physical degrees of freedom. The method of pseudovelocities is proposed to compute the physical part of the propagator in a background field.File in questo prodotto:
