The travertine of Carvanno (Brescia) - The lithofacies of travertine of the Carvanno area are described in detail. These deposits form the core of «Morphological Units» located at different altitudes and formed in different times during the Pleistocene. The deposition of the travertine is probably, from the evidence of morphological and morphostructural analyses, connected with the circulation of thermomineral waters rising through tectonic contacts on the right of the Degagna Valley. Their subsequent levelling to terraces is due to variations in the base level of the rivers, connected with tectonic movements.
