Homologation of MeOAc with CO and H2 to give EtOAc was catalyzed by a Ru compd. with a hard acid promoter and, optionally, an iodized compd. Thus, Ru(acac)3, AlI3, MeOAc, and HOAc were treated with CO-H2 (mol ratio 1:2) at 200° and initial pressure 150 atm with agitation for 10 h. The reaction gave 57% conversion of MeOAc with 43.5% selectivity for EtOAc.

Abstract
Homologation of MeOAc with CO and H2 to give EtOAc was catalyzed by a Ru compd. with a hard acid promoter and, optionally, an iodized compd. Thus, Ru(acac)3, AlI3, MeOAc, and HOAc were treated with CO-H2 (mol ratio 1:2) at 200° and initial pressure 150 atm with agitation for 10 h. The reaction gave 57% conversion of MeOAc with 43.5% selectivity for EtOAc.File in questo prodotto:
