Nano-drug delivery systems based on polymeric biomaterials have received considerable interest as drug delivery vehicles [1]. The preclinical and clinical studies have demonstrated that drug-loaded polymeric nanoparticles confer prolonged circulation time, protection of the drug from physiological degradation, enhanced accumulation in the tumor sites, reduced side effects, improved drug tolerance, and/or long term drug bioavailability [2]. In this work new acrylate-based nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized and characterized. The ability of the NPs to load and then release a drug was also investigated. In addition, the NPs were functionalized to obtain an active targeting.
