Leaving aside individual regional peculiarities and the widely varied nature of urbanisation along the coast of Mediterranean we will attempt to idenify some typologies of coastal development which will allow us to carry out a classification, however approximate, of the countries that make up this area. By bringing together the levels of use and consumption of castal space expressed by the carrying capacity of the land -here analysed in terms of human pressure- and the most widespread models of coastal settlement in the Mediterranean, we aim to identify five different development scenarios within which we will try to include all, or at least most of, the Mediterranean coastal regions.

Abstract
Leaving aside individual regional peculiarities and the widely varied nature of urbanisation along the coast of Mediterranean we will attempt to idenify some typologies of coastal development which will allow us to carry out a classification, however approximate, of the countries that make up this area. By bringing together the levels of use and consumption of castal space expressed by the carrying capacity of the land -here analysed in terms of human pressure- and the most widespread models of coastal settlement in the Mediterranean, we aim to identify five different development scenarios within which we will try to include all, or at least most of, the Mediterranean coastal regions.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
