Abstract
NOMAD is a neutrino oscillation experiment designed to search for v(tau) appearance in the CERN-SPS wide band v(mu) beam. Signal detection relies on the identification of I: charged current interactions using kinematic criteria. The analysis of the 1995 data sample yields no oscillation signal. Combining all studied tau decay modes, a limit of sin(2)2 theta(mu tau) < 4.2 x 10(-3) is obtained for large Delta m(2) at the 90% confidence level. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
