Abstract

The environmental impact of a roof-top grid-connected crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) system, installed on the premises of an industrial facility in Marsciano, Italy, has been investigated by using an environmental Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Special attention was paid towards greenhouse gas emissions and primary energy use. The results have been compared with conventional energy producing options, in order to show the clear advantages of PV energy generation in the field of environmental sustainability.
