Started since the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the criticism of the fiedeicommissum, as institution that strongly limited the free movement of goods, became even harsher in the eighteenth century, giving rise to a broad debate, which was followed by some major legislative actions. This study aims to analyze the story of the decline of fedeicommissum in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, through the examination of the main doctrinal opinions, as well as the content of ducal regulations, approved since the days of Cosimo I, therefore well before the Napoleonic period.

Abstract
