This article deals with Francesco Ferraro’s book "L’Utilità dei diritti" and aims at outlining a new perspective on the analysis of the language of rights: that is, a perspective which is capable of exceeding the theoretical standpoint in order to take care of political and symbolic contexts too. This leads to a critical review of the relationship between utilitarianism and the rights in the way it is explored by Ferraro and to a reevaluation of the subjective dimension of rights – that dimension which constitutes the language of rights (if we take it “seriously”).

Abstract
This article deals with Francesco Ferraro’s book "L’Utilità dei diritti" and aims at outlining a new perspective on the analysis of the language of rights: that is, a perspective which is capable of exceeding the theoretical standpoint in order to take care of political and symbolic contexts too. This leads to a critical review of the relationship between utilitarianism and the rights in the way it is explored by Ferraro and to a reevaluation of the subjective dimension of rights – that dimension which constitutes the language of rights (if we take it “seriously”).File in questo prodotto:
