The paper has two main aims. Firstly, it offers suggestions as to how to test large numbers of students with limited resources. Secondly, the paper aims to stimulate thought and discussion regarding the nature of language test construction and administration more generally. The paper is centred around one particular test, or rather test template, which was developed at the Language Centre in the University of Pisa. The paper describes the reasons for which, and the circumstances in which, the test was developed. Thereafter, the nature of the test is defined more precisely, and a partial evaluation is carried out with reference to a set of externally developed parameters. Finally, it looks at ways in which the current test could be improved, specifically with the aid of computer technology.

Abstract
The paper has two main aims. Firstly, it offers suggestions as to how to test large numbers of students with limited resources. Secondly, the paper aims to stimulate thought and discussion regarding the nature of language test construction and administration more generally. The paper is centred around one particular test, or rather test template, which was developed at the Language Centre in the University of Pisa. The paper describes the reasons for which, and the circumstances in which, the test was developed. Thereafter, the nature of the test is defined more precisely, and a partial evaluation is carried out with reference to a set of externally developed parameters. Finally, it looks at ways in which the current test could be improved, specifically with the aid of computer technology.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
