Prejeronimian Latin versions of the Bible have always been assigned regional tags, ie. Itala, Afra, Hispana and so on, since Augustine's famous pronouncement in favour of the Itala. Earlier scholars attributing such labels were trying to highlight the presence of competing versions, mostly known through quotations of writers from the same regional area of the Empire. No attempt however seems to have been made to map such distinctions on the now slightly better known chart of the Imperial diversifications of Latin, for which I have heavily drawn from Adams' monumental new study of 2007.
