The article presents a case of a participatory experience held in Florence related to the new mosque building. This case study is approached in the wider European context to show the possibility of a shift of paradigma that can support a conflict management. The metodological question of changing the conflict representation from religious to urban is taken as a new perspective of the symbolic appropriation of space. In Florence a storehouse is used as a Muslim prayer place is not large enough to receive all the prayer attenders but the construction of a new mosque is disappointed by the population. The same happened in other European countries. The solution can be a new type of religious building, such a miltireligious one, where everyone can feel at home.

Abstract
The article presents a case of a participatory experience held in Florence related to the new mosque building. This case study is approached in the wider European context to show the possibility of a shift of paradigma that can support a conflict management. The metodological question of changing the conflict representation from religious to urban is taken as a new perspective of the symbolic appropriation of space. In Florence a storehouse is used as a Muslim prayer place is not large enough to receive all the prayer attenders but the construction of a new mosque is disappointed by the population. The same happened in other European countries. The solution can be a new type of religious building, such a miltireligious one, where everyone can feel at home.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
