The text analyzes the descriptions of portraits of famous men that Paolo Giovio inserts in his "Elogia". The text stresses the fact that Giovio's text was copied by Giovan Battista della Porta in his work "De humana Phisyognomonia Books IV" in 1586. Giovio is therefore the source of the descriptions of physiognomic types of Della Porta's book and contributes significantly to the discipline, but so far never recognized.

Abstract
