New observations on the rock glaciers of the Ortles-Cevedale Group (Italian Alps). - In this paper are reported the preliminary results of a research carried on by the Italian Group «Physical Geography and Geomorphology» during a stage in the Ortles-Cevedale Group., in the summer 1986. Object of the research were the rock glaciers present in Val Pisella, a small lateral valley of Valfurva. A geomorphological map of the studied area has been prepared and a topographic sketch of the largest active rock glacier has been surveyed. A systematic photographic survey has been done-of the surface of the rock glacier, for an evaluation of the size and orientation of the clasts. Temperature measurements of spring water confirmed the morphologic distinction between active and inactive rock glaciers. In the largest rock glacier, at a depth of 3 m, ice has been observed and sampled for geochemical analysis.

Abstract
In the largest rock glacier, at a depth of 3 m, ice has been observed and sampled for geochemical analysis.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
