An Excavation into the Deep / Uno scavo (nel) profondo

The excavation is seen from a double point of view: architecture and psychology, where the buildings are overlays of differente eras, but also stratifications of conscience. And if any underground project is an excavatio into the deep, if recesses and cavities are eroded spaces where weaknesses are laid materially bare, the processes of building, thinking, living underground, end up all being fragments of an hidden philosophy. Examples of modern and contemporary subterranean architecture show different approaches in the sphere of underground.

Lo scavo visto sotto la duplice lente dell'architettura e della psicologia, dove gli edifici sono sovrapposizioni di epoche diverse ma anche stratificazioni di coscienze. E se ogni progetto ipogeo è uno scavo nel profondo, se anfratti, recessi, cavità, sono spazi erosi in cui si mettono materialmente a nudo le nostre debolezze, il costruire, pensare, abitare il sottosuolo finiscono per essere tutti frammenti di una filosofia del nascosto. Esempi di architettura sotterranea moderni e contemporanei evidenziano i diversi atteggiamenti possibili nell'ambito dell'underground.
