Metastatic bone disease requires a multidisciplinary approach and the goal of the purposed protocol of treatment is to integrate the role of different specialistic figures in the treatment program. The aims of treatment in appendicular skeletal metastases are to prevent and to cure pathologic fractures of long bones, to achieve pain control and to provide an adequate quality of life. The guide lines of protocol resulted helpful in defining when surgery was indicated and what kind of surgery had to be preferred for every single metastatic patient.
