Underground architecture harks back to an idea of protective space, which over the course of time has evolved from the reuse of existing places into an "urban" conception of the ground beneath our feet. In some ways this is similar to the approach taken by other creatures. And this comparison son has already been suggested by bernard Rudofsky.
