In Troppi paradisi, a classic of contemporary Italian literature, Siti considers auto- fiction to be the form of the construction of the subject. The subject exists through talking about itself and mixing truth and lies; and so, although ironically, he achieves real happiness. Gay love is a figure of the problematic relationship between the subject and the Other: the Other is the projection of desire, the object of an attempted sado-masochistic domination, and a force that resists the assault of the self. Otherness is the very name of Reality, that the subject cannot control nor delete. In this way, Siti recovers from the postmodern condition, and enters a new one, that we can define as hypermodern.

Abstract
In Troppi paradisi, a classic of contemporary Italian literature, Siti considers auto- fiction to be the form of the construction of the subject. The subject exists through talking about itself and mixing truth and lies; and so, although ironically, he achieves real happiness. Gay love is a figure of the problematic relationship between the subject and the Other: the Other is the projection of desire, the object of an attempted sado-masochistic domination, and a force that resists the assault of the self. Otherness is the very name of Reality, that the subject cannot control nor delete. In this way, Siti recovers from the postmodern condition, and enters a new one, that we can define as hypermodern.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
