The intention to devote an article to the subject of "Schiller and Italy's characterisation" speaks in itself in favour of the third hypothesis. For despite the lack of direct experience, Schiller continuously engaged with the real and imaginary topography of Italy. The focus of this work is on those texts in which Schiller's reception of Italian art and culture can be grasped.
