Purpose of this work is the development of a lumped-parameter model of planetary gearings in order to estimate the forces on gear teeth and for the investigation of contact losses and tooth wedging issues. Differently from previous works, the model accounts for the effects of the applied torque and misalignments between the input and output shafts on the load sharing factor. The effects of the planet bearings stiffness and clearance are included. The mathematical model is implemented in Matlab environment and dedicated routines were developed in order to manage the nonlinearities of the teeth separation and wedging. The code evaluates the mesh forces on each planet and the operating scenarios at which wedging and contact losses are present depending on the functional parameters.
