The Role of Law within Religiously Divided Societies: a Conflict Creator or a Conflict Solver?

The reflections contained in this chapter represent an attempt to understand what are the best paths to be covered nowadays in order to manage the religious and cultural differences. Law has a fundamental role in the contemporary scenario. On the one hand, law is a tool that can create conflicts or can increase the conflicts that already exist, and on the other hand, it can be a conflict mediator or a conflict solver. The solutions proposed by intercultural law deserve to be studied in depth and to be continuously exploited on authentic case studies. When minorities claim to apply their own rules, it is the moment for the jurists to start to reason in intercultural terms. It is impossible to know what the solution will be since it depends on each single case study. However, it can definitely be assumed that the solution reached by an intercultural approach will be doubtlessly respectuf of minorities' needs.
