CALMA aims to obtain a CAD (Computer Assisted Diagnosis) system based on Neural Networks to be used in screening mammography. The project is described here, with some preliminary results obtained in the classification of two peculiar kinds of mammal disease (microcalcification clusters and spiculated lesions). CALMA is an Italian collaboration among the INFN (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare) sections of Bologna, Pisa, Torino, Udine and Trento and the Hospitals of Bari, Bologna, Livorno, Udine and Trento.

Abstract
