Archaeological discoveries related to the Apuan Ligurians (3rd-2nd centuries BC) have taken place over more than a century at Levigliani di Stazzema, a small village on the slopes of Mount Corchia in the province of Lucca (Tuscany). Cremation urns and grave goods inside stone box tombs have been found since the end of 1800. However, although historical sources indicate the discovery of over one hundred tombs, it has been possible to document the existence of only thirty. The aim of this research was to identify the presence and exact location of all the Levigliani indings available in different museums and storerooms of the Archaeological Superintendence of Tuscany. A bioarchaeological approach was used to re-examine the burned human remains contained in the urns. The research also allowed an osteoarchaeological study of the cremated human remains recovered in three urns discovered in 1967 and 1980.

Abstract
The research also allowed an osteoarchaeological study of the cremated human remains recovered in three urns discovered in 1967 and 1980.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
