In this paper the theory of envelope is applied to the geometric and kinematic analysis of face gears mating with a helical involute pinion. The conditions of tooth pointing and undercutting are investigated and an expression for the envelope of contact lines on the generating surface is given. The relationship between the envelope of contact lines and the line of singular points is also addressed. These results are organized in a computer software used to show the effects of the helix angle on the geometric and kinematic parameters such as maximum radial extension of face gear tooth, contact ratio and relative rolling, spin and sliding velocities between the mating surfaces.

Abstract
In this paper the theory of envelope is applied to the geometric and kinematic analysis of face gears mating with a helical involute pinion. The conditions of tooth pointing and undercutting are investigated and an expression for the envelope of contact lines on the generating surface is given. The relationship between the envelope of contact lines and the line of singular points is also addressed. These results are organized in a computer software used to show the effects of the helix angle on the geometric and kinematic parameters such as maximum radial extension of face gear tooth, contact ratio and relative rolling, spin and sliding velocities between the mating surfaces.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
