This Essay is a follow up of a previous contribution to the study of some consequences of Darwin's thought in Moral Philosophy (Darwinismo morale, Pisa, 2002). Habermas' apprehension of a darwinian liberalism in our age is disputed, but the author agrees with him about the necessity of philosophically envisaging one important implication of contemporary technological development —namely, the implication of biotechnological possession, after the notion of «Körper haben» put forward by Helmut Plessner. This leads the author to reconsider a natural prerequisite of our idea of individual freedom (a prerequisite pretty much similar to the darwinian concept of chance), i. e. the asymmetry in responsibility between parents and their offspring, an asymmetry which is obviously affected by the possibility of pre–determining at least some features of it.

Abstract
This Essay is a follow up of a previous contribution to the study of some consequences of Darwin's thought in Moral Philosophy (Darwinismo morale, Pisa, 2002). Habermas' apprehension of a darwinian liberalism in our age is disputed, but the author agrees with him about the necessity of philosophically envisaging one important implication of contemporary technological development —namely, the implication of biotechnological possession, after the notion of «Körper haben» put forward by Helmut Plessner. This leads the author to reconsider a natural prerequisite of our idea of individual freedom (a prerequisite pretty much similar to the darwinian concept of chance), i. e. the asymmetry in responsibility between parents and their offspring, an asymmetry which is obviously affected by the possibility of pre–determining at least some features of it.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
