HACIA LA SOCIEDAD DEL CONOCIMIENTO: UNA MIRADA CRÍTICA DESDE EL CONTEXTO ITALIANO

TOWARDS THE KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY: A CRITICAL LOOK FROM THE ITALIAN CONTEXT The current historical phase is characterised by the problematic advance of the processes of globalisation. Some of the significant drivers of change that clearly demonstrate the high degree of complexity in today’s social systems include financialization of the economy, opening up international markets, new/net/knowledge economies, transformation of the workplace, intensification human mobility flows and also information flows, multiplication of forms of communication and the consequent redefinition of individual-society relations. In this context, the concept of a knowledge society seems to be affirmed as a possible and necessary response to ongoing changes: a proposal for a new model of society. This article presents a critical reflection on the idea of a knowledge society. Furthermore, it intends to analyse the European project for a Knowledge Society and focuses on the Italian situation.
