The possibility of measuring small harmonic surface oscillations with the help of a femtosecond laser is analyzed. It is shown that the large number of laser radiation modes allows a considerable increase in the signal-to-noise ratio. The potentialities of the method make possible to increase this ratio by a factor of N, where N is the number of laser radiation modes. The sensitivity improvement provides a decrease of the measurement time, which is important in many practical applications.

Abstract
The possibility of measuring small harmonic surface oscillations with the help of a femtosecond laser is analyzed. It is shown that the large number of laser radiation modes allows a considerable increase in the signal-to-noise ratio. The potentialities of the method make possible to increase this ratio by a factor of N, where N is the number of laser radiation modes. The sensitivity improvement provides a decrease of the measurement time, which is important in many practical applications.File in questo prodotto:
