The purpose of this contribution is to provide a new edition of the Statute for Antwerp - known for the edition of Eugenio Lazzareschi (1933) - and a comparative analysis with that of Bruges (approved in 1498). At the end of the 15th century and in the first half of the 16th century, Antwerp (Brabant) became the main merchant-financial market in northern Europe. In those years, the cities of Flanders were involved in the complex events of international politics and in the grave religious crisis that was tearing apart the European Christianity. The Statute of Lucca merchants in Antwerp (never approved) witnesses the transformation of the very concept of natio, a community supported by, albeit embryonal, civil juridical idea.
Scopo di questo contributo sono la riedizione dello statuto per Anversa – noto per l’edizione di Eugenio Lazzareschi (1933) – e un’analisi comparativa con quello di Bruges (approvato nel 1498). Alla fine del Quattrocento e nella prima metà del Cinquecento, Anversa (Brabante) si affermò quale principale piazza mercantile-finanziaria del nord Europa. In quegli anni le città della Fiandre si trovarono coinvolte nelle complesse vicende di politica internazionale e nella grave crisi religiosa che lacerava la cristianità europea. Lo statuto per i mercanti lucchesi di Anversa (mai approvato) testimonia la trasformazione del concetto stesso di natio, una comunità sostenuta da una, sia pur embrionale, idea giuridica civile.
