It is common today, in the western world, to live in a cultural context dominated by the interest in minutiae, rather than by broad perspectives and genuine commitment. Everything is centered on the individual or, at the most, on the group the individual belongs to, and it seems obvious and right to safeguard every single person’s field of action. In this paper another perspective will be developed and defended, against the idea of an isolated individuality: a relational perspective. It is necessary, in fact, to transform the individualistic interpretation of human being, supported during the Modern Age until today, into an ethics of relation. The formula that can explain this ethics sounds: properly ethical, since it realizes the good, is the relationship which breeds other relationships and is able to potentially expand ad infinitum. Only starting from this idea, only starting from the principle of relation, we will be able to develop a true new humanism for the old Europe.
