New space equipments call for higher performance and safety parameters while, at the same time, low system cost. To achieve these specifications this paper presents a Multi Chip Module (MCM) device, named AMBRA (ASIC for BRushless Motor control in space Applications), designed for high performance synchronous brushless motor control in space applications. The motor control system is realized by arranging an high performances fixed-point DSP core with a set of peripherals optimized for motor brushless based applications.
