This paper presents the focusing characteristics of near fields radiated from multi-panel phased array antennas, where each panel of the antenna array is designed to focus its radiation in the antenna near-field region, for UHF-RFID applications. The cylindrical arrangement of panels creates a relatively symmetrical focusing region beneficial to the tag detection within a confined region of bio-medical applications for non-contact medical information extraction.

Abstract

This paper presents the focusing characteristics of near fields radiated from multi-panel phased array antennas, where each panel of the antenna array is designed to focus its radiation in the antenna near-field region, for UHF-RFID applications.
